Robert Sochacki, Phd – born in Gdansk, PL (1971) where he is currently based. He is an academic teacher at Academy of Fine Arts, dept. of Painting, Art in Public Space studio in Gdansk and at Stage Design dept. in Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. Since almost 25 years he has been an active artist, working on various fields, from theatre set designer, through VJ’ing, performance and outdoor projections, to interactive light installations. During his doctoral studies he started his theoretical research on the inter-play between public art, light and the viewer. The factor that allows the artist to be in dialogue with his audience is what interests him the most.
Thanks to his experience he was invited not only to show his artistic work in many international festivals (in 2018: LUNA, Leeuwarden, Netherlands , Lichtrouten Lüdenscheid, Germany, LUMINA Festival of Light, Cascais, Portugal, INTERFERENCE Tunis, Tunisia) but also to work with students at various workshop concerning new media art (i.e. at Lichtcampus innovation through light Wismar 2019, Cultural Heritage studio in Tunis during Interference 2018, SEE Djerba in 2017, Wroclaw-Gdansk academical exchange in 2016).
In 2018 he was a head of International Conference and Workshop for Students in Public Space „Light as a Creative Tool” in Gdansk.
